Earth surveillance and space-based monitoring of the environment: integrated approaches
Earth surveillance and space-based monitoring of the environment: integrated approaches
Editor(s): S. C. Michaelides and C. Kontoes
Integrated technologies of Earth Observation are used to provide reliable up-to-date information needed to better observe, understand, protect, monitor, and predict environmental parameters that are interrelated with the human, physical and built environment. There is a systematic 'push' of filling the research gap for integrating different remote sensing techniques e.g., field spectroscopy, UAV's, multispectral cameras, in-situ and active remote sensing (lidar) techniques with space-based techniques for monitoring the environment. Indeed, this provides an extra benefit to the remote sensing users for assessing, validating and deriving auxiliary information, in order to assist the space-based activities. Calibration of space-based derived data is a must in the active and passive satellite remote sensing. This volume will give the opportunity to the authors to present ideas and identify future trends in the integrated use of remote sensing and space-based techniques for monitoring the environment.
